I am originally from Mexico,I was borns 1997 I am 29, yes I am old and for a long time I have had a dream of becoming a Graphic Designer. I have always enjoyed drawing, working with computers, and being creative. I was also attracted to graphic design because it is a career that can allow me to work independently and potentially work from home as a freelance web designer.
After coming to Canada, I began looking for a program that would allow me to develop my skills and pursue a career in graphic design. I first applied to the Interactive Media Design program at Vanier College, but unfortunately, I was not accepted because my grades were not high enough. I then applied to Dawson College, but I encountered problems with my immigration documents, which prevented me from entering the program.
As another option, I decided to attend Lasalle College, where I completed a DEC in Arts, Literature and Communication – Arts Option, a pre-university Diploma of College Studies. At that time, I was hoping that this education would eventually help me continue my studies in graphic design. Later, I applied to Concordia University, hoping to study graphic design, but I was only accepted into the Art History program.
I decided to study Art History for three years. Although this experience gave me a better understanding and appreciation of art, I realized that Art History was not the career I wanted to pursue. I wanted something more creative and practical where I could actually create, design, and use technology. This experience helped me understand more clearly what I wanted for my future.
For this reason, I decided to apply to John Abbott College for the DEC in Graphic and Web Design program. This program is much closer to my original goal and combines many of the things I have always enjoyed: drawing, visual creativity, computers, design, and technology. I believe that studying Graphic and Web Design will give me the practical skills and knowledge I need to build a career in the field and eventually work as a professional graphic designer or freelancer.
Although my educational journey has not followed a straight path, every step has helped me understand myself and my goals better. I now feel more certain that graphic design is the field I want to pursue, and I am motivated to dedicate myself to developing the skills necessary to succeed in it.
Now I am Full-time student at john abbitt college and also taking classe of film studies at Concordia University. My new dream is to become graphic and web Design,so I can work from home building nice websites for companies
